The commitment of African diaspora networks from Cologne and the region to sustainable development

Visible. Strong. Networked!

Networking event & exhibition as part of the Yelen Bora project

Cooperation with the Cologne VHS

African diaspora organizations and migrant self-organizations from Cologne and the region have been making a significant but often invisible contribution to sustainable development in African countries for years.

Whether it is the construction of the first school in the village, medical equipment for local health centers, wells for clean drinking water, ecological agricultural projects or the promotion of local women’s cooperatives – this commitment is effective, sustainable and deserves public recognition.

This is precisely where the Yelen Bora (“Bringing Light”) project comes in: It also shines a light on Cologne and Germany, informs and motivates people to participate and get involved. Yelen Bora makes Afro-diasporic development policy commitment visible, strengthens actors through professionalization and promotes sustainable networking with civil society, funding institutions and the interested public.

The event combines expert dialog, personal experience reports, exhibition and encounters – and creates space for exchange, appreciation and new collaborations.

This event invites you to rediscover and appreciate Afro-diasporic commitment and to think ahead together – visible, strong and networked.

We are delighted about the cooperation between Jama Nyeta gGmbH and the Cologne VHS as part of the Yelen Bora project, which is funded by the North Rhine-Westphalia Foundation for Environment and Development.

Admission is free, registration atpouget@jamanyeta.org.
