Fatherhood Programs for Fathers with an International Family History
Den Fa Nafa is a free program for fathers with international family backgrounds in Cologne. In multilingual meetings, fathers discuss parenting, family, and everyday life.
Fathers with an immigrant background want to actively support their children. So far, there have been no programs to help them do so.
Trained mentors guide the groups and create opportunities for guidance, mutual support, and strengthening the father-child relationship.
Goals
Role Modeling: Examining the role of fathers as role models in raising their children.
Exchange: Fathers connect with one another and learn from each other.
Guidance: Discuss everyday questions and challenges together.
Father-Child Relationship: Strengthening Mutual Support and the Bond with Children.
MEETINGS
At least twice a month, fathers meet in multilingual groups. Mentors facilitate the evenings. Participants help determine the topics.
In addition, there are father-child events and outings.
