The “Jiguiya Kura” project promotes the self-determination and personal development of black/BIPOC men aged between 21 and 45, who are often isolated, homeless and affected by racial discrimination. Due to language and cultural barriers and a lack of trust, they often have no access to the necessary support structures and engage in problematic behavior.
The project is based on three pillars:
BASIS: It offers multilingual, language-sensitive advice and support in finding accommodation in order to create a stable basis in terms of social and insurance law.
ACTIVATION: Participants are supported by interpreting assistance and targeted motivation to assert their rights independently and build up a personal support network.
EMPOWERMENT: In workshops and excursions, they reflect on their social role, develop strategies against racism and set personal goals, which strengthens their conflict management and reduces the potential for aggression.
The project is funded by Aktion Mensch and Aktion Neue Nachbarn. The excursions are supported by the Arnsberg district government and the project is carried out in cooperation with the Caritas Association Cologne.
